Vendors and pedestrians scurried for cover as a kombi sped off along Sixth Avenue and severely hit a pedestrian.
The scary incident unfolded last Friday at around 7.45 pm in the presence of this reporter near OK Supermarket which is situated at corner 6th Avenue and Lobengula Street. The kombi was parked opposite the supermarket near the road and all of a sudden, the kombi driver named Bucherman started the car and chillingly drove at a high-speed going past the supermarket’s door heading south.
It severely hit a man named Maxwell Ngozo. The kombi hit Maxwell on the waist and he landed on his head and suffered injuries. The unfortunate man lay unconscious as a mystery man called an ambulance that rushed him to hospital.
Through sheer luck vendors and other pedestrians managed to evade the speeding kombi but some of their wares were damaged.

When asked what caused him to drive in hysteria Bucherman said: “I cannot really say what caused me to do that, leyi yimimoya (evil spirits). And this car is not mine I’m holding fort for a colleague who took off days.”
He has to thank his gods because vendors and pedestrians did not beat him up but only surrounded his kombi and watched in horror he sobbed while shaking his head.
