CORNER 6th Avenue and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street in Bulawayo’s city centre was on Wednesday turned into a street fight arena that saw two suspected thieves exchange blows before one pulled out a screwdriver and stabbed the other in the chest and head.

The two thieves, named Mtho and Skara were fighting over money they stole from a car. Mtho accused Skara of giving him a small amount.

The argument spiralled into a fist fight. At the height of the fight, Skara reached for a screwdriver and stabbed Mtho in the head and chest causing him to fall to the ground.

But he did not stop at that as he kicked him while hurling insults at him, said a witness.

Mtho’s sweater was left in shreds and dripping in blood as his attacker left him lying prostrate on the ground. His life was left hanging by a thread as he was breathing with difficulty while bleeding profusely.

An onlooker called the police who came and picked up Mtho who was now drenched in blood.

After that they tracked Skara and arrested him.

Efforts to get a comment from Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube were fruitless.
