Three armed robbers smashed a window at a house in Bulawayo’s Lobengula West suburb and got into a bedroom. They tied a man to his bed before robbing him of his US$200 and a cellphone.
They smashed a window to his bedroom with an iron bar after which two of them got inside the room as one of them remained outside in the yard, a source said.
They awoke him before they throttled him while warning him not to scream.
“They tied him to his bed with a rope and ransacked the house and in the process they stumbled on his wallet which had US$200. They took it and his cellphone and after that they fled,” said the source.
The victim later untied himself and reported the matter to the police.
Police attended the scene and they are hunting for the trio.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
He appealed for information that could lead to the arrest of the robbers.
“Anyone with information may contact us on 2922-60358 or contact any nearest police station,” he said.
This incident comes hot on the heels of a robbery incident that took place at a packaging company named Polyfoil where robbers cut zinc roofing and got into an office before stealing US$ 16000 and R3000 and $481 .
Detectives are hunting for the trio.
