A-50-year-old woman from Mawarire Village under Chief Gutu has been arrested by Police after she allegedly hit her husband with a farm brick several times leading to his death at Gutu Mission Hospital two days later.
Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the case to The Mirror.
Melika Joni (50) brews beer at her home and was selling it on Thursday last week when her husband became rowdy and started disturbing patrons by pouring their beer on the ground. Joni tried to refrain Simbarashe Kufakunesu (51), who reacted by trying to strike his wife with an axe.
Joni overpowered her husband, picked a farm brick and allegedly struck him several times on the head and chest until he started vomiting blood. Kufakunesu became unwell the next day, and his wife took him to Gutu Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries on Saturday.
A Police report was made leading to the arrest of Joni.
Dhewa urged the public to refrain from resolving issues through violence.
