A CHEEKY prisoner, who asked for permission to relieve himself before escaping from custody at Chinhoyi Prison, has been nabbed again.
Enock Kamuchengi (41) of Murombedzi, appeared before Chinhoyi magistrate, Batsiranai Madzingira, charged with escaping from lawful custody.
Kamuchengi had been sentenced to a 48-month jail term for unlawful entry, and 12 months were suspended, for five years.
Kamuchengi will now serve 45 months, after the months suspended in the previous case were triggered.
Prosecuting, Olivia Mukaro, told the court that on August 18, at around 2:30pm at Chinhoyi Prison, Kamuchengi, was working at the prison car wash, under the care of prison warden Tawanda Antonyo.
He requested to use the toilet and when he didn’t return, Antonyo followed him to the toilet.
He found out that Kamuchengi had left his prison garb inside and had vanished.
On August 18, correctional officers were deployed to search for Kamuchengi, at his last known address in Goredema Village, Murombedzi.
He was found and arrested at his homestead, and escorted back to prison.
