LATEST: Sibanda continues to defy odds


Mighty Warriors head coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda continues to set the pace among female coaches with the former Zimbabwe women’s soccer team player just one of two local female coaches to assume the role of being a coaching instructor.

Gone are the days when coaching was a sector reserved for men with the Mighty Warriors head coach among instructors taking aspiring coaches through a Level 1 coaching course at Oriel Boy’s High School.

Sibanda who is working together with veteran Sammy Mavhenyengwa in lecturing Level 1 aspirants said gender has never been a barrier in her pursuit of acquiring coaching knowledge.

Also among the instructors working with a Level 2 class is Philani Ncube who outlined the importance of science in modern day coaching pointing to the need for former players to acquire all badges as they venture into coaching.

Courage Denias, Charles Makoto and Tendai Hove are among participants at the Level 1 and 2 courses that will be running for a week at Oriel Boy’s High School.

The Level 1 course is the foundation of local coaching as participants get to acquire the basics of key technical aspects of the game while Level 2 goes a gear up with coaches taken deeper into areas relating to tactics, conditioning and laws of the game.
