A man from Tizi Village, Chief Mazvihwa in Zvishavane who twice stole phones from his victims and successfully withdrew money from their EcoCash accounts stunned the local court when he said he gets his victims’ pin numbers in his dreams.

Terry Dube (28) appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate Shephard Mjanja facing 4 counts of theft and two counts of fraud.

It is the State case of fraud that on June 19 2019 along Shurugwi–Zvishavane Road, Dube was picked by Anthony Mutanga from Shurugwi to Zvishavane. He stole Mutanga’s phone and then pretending to be Mutanga and called the complainant’s brother saying he had encountered problems so he needed quick money. He was sent $150 which he successfully withdrew from the EcoCash account.

At Bata in town, he again stole a phone from one Sikhulilekhile, an agritex officer. He then misrepresented to Sindile Msipa that the owner of the phone was in trouble and he was sent $480 which he successfully collected through EcoCash.

Dube pleaded guilty to all six counts and told the magistrate that he is given the pin numbers in dreams.

Taurai Muzvimwe represented the State.
