The Zimbabwe government used Twitter today to ask for help in identifying the gunman seen in Harare yesterday on the first day of the #ShutdownZimbabwe stay away. The man was filmed brandishing a gun on a road and later shooting at what has been said were people.
Yesterday’s protests were violent with the police and army responding with force. About 5 people reportedly died and several others injured, most of them with gunshot wounds. The government has said it arrested 200 people yesterday alone.
The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting said in a tweet this morning:
The police is seeking assistance from the public to identify the suspected terrorist in this picture. Who is he? Where did he obtain the assault weapon he is brazenly brandishing from? He is suspected of shooting some innocent civilians. pic.twitter.com/DSaPwugD5c
