NORTON legislator Temba Mliswa (INDEPENDENT) was involved in a road traffic accident as he was doing errands to do with the funeral of a colleague.
Inviolata Dumbutshena, herself a lawyer by profession and the grand daughter to Zimbabwe’s former Chief Justice Enoch Dumbutshena, died in a horrific car accident on Saturday afternoon along Chatsworth/Mvuma road.
Mliswa said a motorist failed to give way to his vehicle, resulting in the crash.
“Have just been involved in an accident whilst coming from receiving the body of Vee Dumbutshena who passed away this week. The person failed to give way. Thank God we are alive but people should not drink and drive,” Mliswa said.
Inviolata had a successful law firm which has two branches in Bulawayo and in Harare. She was on her way from South Africa through Bulawayo, when she decided to use the Masvingo, Mvuma road back to the capital city.
A witness to the nasty accident, Beauty Joseph, provided pictures on social media saying a haulage truck had a head on crash with the Toyota RAV4 which Inviolata was driving with a colleague, resulting in the the Rav4 tossed into a bushy area by the roadside.
Ms Joseph said there is a sharp curve in the road and the RAV4 was traveling too fast while approaching the haulage truck. The accident was caused by failure to slow down and improve judgement due to the blind spot, she said.
