In the case in which a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer was caught shoplifting from a local supermarket, more details have emerged.
The H-Metro reports that the hapless policeman (name withheld) was caught on camera whilst trying to escape from Pick n Pay, Newlands with unpaid food on Saturday.
Some members of the public who witnessed the incident claimed that the police officer had been loitering in the shop for a long time whilst holding the food and tried to hide it in underwear.
Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and said that he regretted any inconvenience caused by one of the members of the police force.
”The act has tarnished the image of police officers as they are required to teach people to desist from crime and lead by example.
”The matter is going to be solved and the correct measures will be taken into account.
”We do not condone any illegal acts or crime by members of the public as they will lead to thorough punishment,” said Ass Comm Nyathi
