Chairperson of the Zimbabwe National War Veterans Association, Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa says it is high time MDC Alliance leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa to join the political actors dialogue (Polad) if his party is serious about rebuilding the economy.
Mutsvangwa also claims that Chamisa knows that president Emmerson Mnangagwa won the 2018 presidential elections but does not want to accept defeat.
Mutsvangwa said that Chamisa is afraid of the MDC Constitution which provides that a presidential candidate who loses an election has to resign.
Chamisa has since 2018 been refusing to acknowledge president Mnangagwa as the legitimate president of Zimbabwe arguing that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, in connivance with the ruling ZANU PF, manipulated election results in favour of Mnangagwa.
He filed an application at the Constitutional Court for a review of the election results but the court upheld the ZEC results saying that Chamisa had failed to present evidence to support his claim that elections had been rigged.
Recently, he announced that he had discovered new evidence which suggests that the elections had indeed been manipulated and said the MDC was planning to approach SADC over the matter.
Mutsvangwa, however, says Chamisa is just seeking attention.
