One villager was arrested and another took to his heels when they were caught stealing hired chairs at Ginimbi’s funeral.
Panashe Rinemhota, 23, was found with five chairs at around 2am hidden at the grave yard site which is almost 200 meters away from the pitched tent.
The other suspect, only identified as Sergeant, fled from the scene.
The incident took place while mourners were busy singing.
Rinemhota told H-Metro that he took the chairs to create a comfortable place to sleep.
“Tatora machairs kuti tigadzire pekurarira saka taenda kumakuva kwanga kusina noise,” said Rinemhota.
“We were shocked to see security guards confronting us accusing us of stealing the chairs and my colleague fled,” he said denying the allegations.
The incident forced security guards to awaken a member of the Nyaradzo Funeral Services to enquire about the number of chairs hired since the Kadungure family member assigned to that was not at the place.
It was discovered that eleven chairs were missing and Rinemhota was taken by the guards to Chinamhora police station.
