SAD SCENES: Woman cries as rowdy mahwindi harass and shove her into wrong bus (WATCH VIDEO)

Furious social media users have called on the authorities to take serious measures against touts who have become a stubborn thorn in the side of passengers and law enforcement officials. This after a video that is circulating on social media, which shows the touts mercilessly pulling a helpless female passenger in opposite directions.

In the video, between 6 to 8 touts are fighting to have the woman board one of their buses and disregard her wishes and cries of agony as they pull her in opposite directions. Some of the touts have also disposed her of her belongs in an attempt to get her to board the buses that they are working for.

Many Zimbabweans online have called on the authorities to take stern measures against the touts who abuse passengers on a daily basis. Many called for the authorities to take action against the bus operator, whose name is clearly visible in the video, as well as the driver and the conductor since they are the ones who directly benefit from the abusive actions of the touts.

Touts have become a menace which the authorities seem unable to solve. From time to time the authorities launch operations against the touts. However, these operations are often short-lived and ineffective as the touts return in full force after only days.

In 2017, a Harare man died after he was harassed and manhandled by touts while intending to board a bus to Mutare near Roadport Bus Terminus along Robert Mugabe Road. Mathias Gore of Glen Norah C was in the company of his family when the incident occurred. Three touts Newton Popi, Ngonidzashe Ndlovu and Nyaradzo Nzombe were arrested for the crime.

In 2014, another group of touts caused outrage when they stripped a 28-year-old Harare woman, accusing her of being indecently dressed.
