Skull of Goliath who was killed by King David discovered in Jerusalem A team of famed archaeologists and biblical scholars have confirmed an enormous skull that was unearthed west of Jerusalem is that of Goliath.  They also say the stone embedded in its forehead came from David's slingshot!

Excited scientist, Dr Richard Martin discovered the amazing relic in the foothills of the Judaean Mountains last spring.

The German archaeologist says the find proves that the battle between David and Goliath occurred just the way the Bible described it.

"I was convinced before that this was the skull of the 10-foot Palestine giant described in the bible. ," Dr Martin said in Jerusalem.

Dr Martin and his assistants found the huge skull during a routine archaeological survey in the Valley of Elah, where David's conquest of the towering Goliath reportedly took place.

SUMMARY (Full story in 1 Samuel 17:51)

The Philistine army had gathered for war against Israel. The two armies faced each other, camped for battle on opposite sides of a steep valley. A Philistine giant measuring over nine feet tall and wearing full armor came out each day for forty days, mocking and challenging the Israelites to fight. His name was Goliath. Saul , the King of Israel, and the whole army were terrified of Goliath.

One day David, the youngest son of Jesse, was sent to the battle lines by his father to bring back news of his brothers. David was probably just a young teenager at the time. While there, David heard Goliath shouting his daily defiance and he saw the great fear stirred within the men of Israel. David responded, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of God?"

So David volunteered to fight Goliath. It took some persuasion, but King Saul finally agreed to let David fight against the giant. Dressed in his simple tunic, carrying his shepherd's staff, sling and a pouch full of stones, David approached Goliath. The giant cursed at him, hurling threats and insults.

David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied ... today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air ... and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel ... it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands."

As Goliath moved in for the kill, David reached into his bag and slung one of his stones at Goliath's head. Finding a hole in the armor, the stone sank into the giant's forehead and he fell face down on the ground. David then took Goliath's sword, killed him and then cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. So the Israelites pursued, chasing and killing them and plundering their camp.

Did the bible say he was buried with the stone still deep slotted into his forehead? And is it possible that you can do carbon dating to determine the true age of the skull and check against what the bible says when it happened..?

The bible is full of half truiths. Of many of the incidences are historically true but were made to look flowery for belief purposes.

Even if Jesus appears today on CNN or ZTV people will still not believe. God is for believers.

Think about your statement again! Think. To me it reflects untold shallowness and your angst relationship to the information world.

@ Innocent - so so true. Faith is believing in what you can't prove. It is only human to believe in a God, and if that God is not Jehovah, then he is devilish. Most people write even that which they themselves don't believe, just to confuse other readers, just for the fun of it. You are admitting that Belief is just FEAR of the unknown. Of course we spend a lot of time THINKING about these things and won't resign to the point of accepting any nonsense simply because "we don't know" and can't prove that there are no prophets.

No.May be i am not that good in English. What i meant is; Archaelogy and any proof of the senses besides personal revelation of God through the medium of His Spirit can not make one s believer in God. Jesus himself said,"When the Son of man returns to the earth will he still find faith on earth?" Again St Paul,"The things of God are foolishness to the canal man. Men of reason. So i maintain that if Jesus would come again men still will not believe even if he replaces Amanpour's programme on CNN. God is for believers. By believers i do not mean make believers but men and women who are convicted and persuaded of the Spirit to believe. We do not believe by scientific evidence or logical deductions seeing "these things are foolish to the natural men". CONCLUSION- These popular remarks of atheism are normal. Its just history repeating itself.
