Zanu-PF MP Dexter Nduna donated 60 heifers and five bulls to thank President Emmerson Mnangagwa for “ending water woes” in the agricultural town of Chegutu.

Nduna, who comes from Chegutu and recently lost his bid for reelection, made the jaw-dropping donation at a rally held by Mnangagwa in Mashonaland West.

He credited the President with drilling over 80 boreholes in Chegutu to provide water and alleviate chronic issues with cholera and typhoid caused by the town’s severe water shortage.

“Chegutu produces only 10 megalitres of treated water against a daily requirement of 20 megalitres,” Nduna revealed. “The President is on a 20 megalitre expansion drive.”

Nduna also said Mnangagwa had donated 12 farms to Chegutu Municipality to help solve the town’s dire housing backlog of 35,000 homes. He claimed the President had also improved living conditions for mine workers there.

In addition to Nduna’s herd of cows, information secretary Ndavaningi Mangwana revealed Mashonaland West province gave Mnangagwa an eye-popping donation of “100 heifers, six bulls, 105 goats, four sheep and 150 blankets.”

Nduna proclaimed: “I am thanking President Mnangagwa for what he is doing in Chegutu and Mashonaland West as a whole.”

But critics may question the optics of lavishing livestock on the President while many in Chegutu still suffer from a lack of basic services.
