A 38-year-old man tragically lost his life after being hit by a car while crossing the road near Quest Motors in Sakubva, Mutare on Saturday evening.
Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Nobert Muzondo said McDonald Shoko from Hobhouse died from injuries suffered in the accident.
According to Inspector Muzondo, around 7pm on Saturday, McDonald Shoko was attempting to cross the Mutare-Chimanimani Road at the Quest Motors bus stop from Chigomba shops. Edwin Khumbula, 20, was driving a Toyota Hilux towards Sakubva when he hit McDonald.
McDonald sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police attended the accident and took McDonald’s body to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital morgue.
Inspector Muzondo urged both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution at all times when using the road in order to prevent such tragic accidents.
