Tragic Lake Kariba Incident: Bodies of Four Men Recovered After Boat Capsizes
In a devastating turn of events, the bodies of four men who went missing on Lake Kariba after their boat capsized have been successfully retrieved by a dedicated search and rescue team. The joint effort involved personnel from Zimparks, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), and the Zimbabwe National Army.
Between Sunday and Monday, the search and rescue team worked tirelessly to recover the bodies. The first body was retrieved on Sunday night, while the remaining three were found and brought ashore on Monday. Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the police spokesperson, confirmed the sombre outcome.
The incident occurred on Saturday when the boat carrying the four individuals, along with another who was fortunate enough to be rescued on Sunday, capsized. The rescued man managed to alert nearby fishermen about the four missing individuals. He was found clinging onto an empty container, desperately seeking help.
Authorities are urging the public to adhere to safety protocols and exercise caution when engaging in water-related activities to prevent further tragedies of this nature.
