Brazen thieves strike Chikurubi Prison, rob senior officer of US$2 500 in startling bedroom heist

In a surprising turn of events, thieves targeted Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison Camp, robbing a senior officer of US$2,500 in her own bedroom on Sunday.

Superintendent Gloria Tamanikwa, who holds the position of Officer-in-Charge at Chikurubi Female Prison, had the unfortunate experience of losing the money while she was engrossed in watching TV in her lounge.

The shocking discovery came when Superintendent Tamanikwa retired to her bedroom around midnight, only to find it in disarray. The thieves had ransacked the room and opened her suitcase, which contained the substantial sum of money. Police suspect that the culprits gained entry by exploiting one of the windows.

As of now, authorities are actively investigating the incident to apprehend the responsible individuals.

In a separate incident, Joseph Murorigi, a security officer from the police projects at ZRP Mabelreign Camp, fell victim to theft when unknown thieves broke into ZRP Warren Park Crèche. The stolen items included a 9kg gas tank and groceries. The case has been reported at Warren Park Police Station under reference RRB 5700795.
