Harare – A pall of grief hangs over the Dzivarasekwa turn-off along Bulawayo Road once again, following a horrific accident early Wednesday morning involving a commuter omnibus and a truck. The collision, which occurred at the notorious intersection, has left several people feared dead and others seriously injured, according to initial reports.
The exact number of fatalities and injuries remains unclear, but several passengers were reportedly seriously injured, Star FM reveals.
The accident occurred at the Dzivaresekwa turn-off along Bulawayo Road in Harare early Wednesday morning.
The Dzivarasekwa turn-off area has become notorious for frequent fatal accidents.
Eyewitnesses report that the commuter omnibus was struck from behind after the driver encroached into the haulage truck’s lane while attempting to reverse and pick up a passenger.
In the ensuing chaos, the driver lost control and crashed into a stationary UD truck.
The police are yet to confirm the details of the incident.

This latest tragedy has reignited concerns about road safety at the Dzivarasekwa turn-off, an area that has witnessed numerous fatal accidents in recent times. Just two weeks ago, three people died on the spot, and four others were injured in a horrific road accident at the same notorious Dzivarasekwa Turn-off along Harare-Bulawayo road.
The crash occurred at around 9pm a fortnight ago when a truck rammed into a van and overturned at the Dzivarasekwa turnoff traffic lights along Bulawayo Road in Harare. The truck driver reportedly fled the accident scene following the collision.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to The Herald, the DAF truck which was carrying washing powder was speeding and failed stop at the Dzivarasekwa turn-off traffic lights before hitting a Nissan NV van.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the latest accident.
The repeated loss of life at the Dzivarasekwa turn-off has prompted a wave of public outcry, with many calling for urgent action to improve road safety at the intersection. Social media has been flooded with messages of grief, anger, and frustration, with many demanding immediate intervention from authorities.

Thamsanqa Thina claimed that 8 people have died on the spot in this accident. My Zimbabwe News could, however, not independently verify thic claim. “Haa azvisi kutambirika 8 pple died on spot and azvisi kutarisika ropa haro,” wrote Thamsanqa Thina.
