HARARE – Just days after a vigilant Harare regional magistrate Letwin Rwodzi exposed Mai Jeremaya as an active participant in sex-for-money activities, another man has come forward with similar allegations. The man, known only as Baba Tanya, claims that the social media personality bombarded him with explicit text messages demanding sex and money.
Baba Tanya alleges that he connected with Mai Jeremaya on social media in 2023. He claims that she quickly became insistent on meeting him for sexual encounters, sending him numerous messages expressing her desires.
According to Baba Tanya, at one point, Mai Jeremaya expressed concern that he was hesitant to meet her because he was unwilling to provide her with money for a hair appointment. The text messages, now in the possession of the news crew, appear to support this claim.
One message allegedly sent by Mai Jeremaya reads: “Icho (accompanied by a love emoji), zvauri handsome naiwe, ndogoona tuma small pictures pa video call.”
Baba Tanya further alleges that Mai Jeremaya sent him nude photographs, including images of her private parts. He claims that she later regretted sending these pictures.
“Check in some of our conversations, she ended up regretting sending the pictures,” Baba Tanya said. “She would ask me to meet her at a bus stop opposite Waterfalls Police Station.”
He also shared an exchange where he requested pictures of her backside, to which she responded: “Irikuramba, front camera yangu haisi kuburitsa yakadonha.”
In another message, Mai Jeremaya allegedly told Baba Tanya that she was horny and wanted to know when they would have sex. When he suggested the following day, she agreed but wanted to know where the “steamy sex session” would take place.
“I am so lonely, do you know that?… Call me kana waapa Waterfalls Police, I think network is bad ikutadza ku deliver… Today, I’m going ku shoot unenge wandifonera wonzwa kuti ndiri papi coz I’m going to Chitungwiza,” she reportedly wrote.
Despite never physically meeting Mai Jeremaya, Baba Tanya claims to have sent her over US$300. He says he deliberately avoided meeting her, making up excuses about false trips, but sent her money for her hair and data. He now regrets ever proposing love to her.
On 3 January last year, Mai Jeremaya allegedly sent Baba Tanya the following message: “As I look back in the past year, I’d like to acknowledge you in helping me shape my brand and business simply by associating with me. Thank you so much. I wish you and your family all the best for the New Year 2024.”
Baba Tanya claims he followed her recent court case, where she accused two men of gang-raping her at a lodge in Harare, with great interest and doubted her claims from the beginning. He even considered volunteering to testify in favour of the accused men.
“I nearly volunteered to give my testimony in court in favour of the two men she accused of raping her,” Baba Tanya said. “Look at these chats between me and her in 2023, she was ever demanding to meet me for sex. I deliberately avoided meeting her, lied about some false trips but I sent the money she demanded for her hair-do and data. I regretted proposing love to her, she sent some nude photographs that included her private parts.”
Repeated efforts to obtain a comment from Mai Jeremaya throughout the weekend were unsuccessful. While Mai Jeremaya is not formally married, however, she has been in a romantic relationship with one JMP for 12 years. The two have been cohabiting for the past years and the man has impregnated Mai Jeremaya at least three times since they have three children together. At this moment, it is not clear if Mai Jeremaya’s “husband” intends to visit Tinashe Mugabe for his ‘peace of mind services’.

Magistrate Rwodzi questioned the role of private investigator Tafadzwa ‘Detective Kedha’ Chidawa in the drama. She stated that Mai Jeremaya had presented three different versions of the same case.
She highlighted that Mai Jeremaya had been communicating with Dube for over two months, was desperate for money, and was experiencing marital problems, which she shared with Dube. The magistrate also noted that Mai Jeremaya accepted US$20 and an InDrive ride home and did not intend to report the incident to her husband or the police. The report was made by her friend without her consent.
“According to the medical report penetration was indefinite because she was sexually active prior to the alleged offence. There was a tug-of-war between the accused and Masendeke and from a clear analysis, her evidence was unsatisfactory, it cast doubt in the court’s mind. Both of them gave their explanations which are reasonable to be true, her testimony was marred with material contradictions while they remained consistent in their evidence that it was sex in exchange for money,” Magistrate Rwodzi stated.
The magistrate further explained that for a conviction to be secured, there must be proof that there was no consent and that the accused realised there was a real risk that there was no consent but still proceeded to engage in sexual activity. The burden of proof remains on the State.
“What business did she have accompanying them to drop Dube’s girlfriend Sbahle in town? Couldn’t she have asked for help or cried out for help at the earliest opportunity, why did she bath after the rape? These are the doubts that arose in the head of the court during trial,” Magistrate Rwodzi revealed.
The magistrate also questioned the timing and genuineness of Mai Jeremaya’s report, suggesting it may have been an attempt to save her marriage or extort money from the two men through the private investigator.
“The report must have been made voluntarily and at the earliest opportunity and it’s this court’s view that the report wasn’t a genuine disclosure of a sexual complaint, it was to save her already crumbling marriage or arose after failing to extort money from the two through a suspicious private investigator Tafadzwa Chidawa,” she said.
Magistrate Rwodzi also pointed out inconsistencies in Mai Jeremaya’s description of the lodge where the alleged incident took place, noting that video footage contradicted her claims that it was quiet.
“This was a deliberate attempt to dramatise the events when, in actual fact, she was an active consenting participant who engaged in sex for money,” vigilant Magistrate Rwodzi concluded, setting the two men free, who would have been slapped with at least 15 years in prison if they had been found guilty.
The latest allegations from Baba Tanya further tarnish Mai Jeremaya’s reputation and raise serious questions about her conduct. The public awaits her response to these new claims.
