TRAGEDY struck on Saturday night when three people were killed and six others injured in a horrific head-on collision along the Mvurwi-Centenary Road.
According to police, the accident happened at around 8:15 PM near Maori Turn Off, about 38 kilometres from Mvurwi. A Toyota Dyna truck carrying seven passengers slammed into a Mazda Demio with six passengers on board.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 20 September 2025 at around 2015 hours at the 38-kilometre peg along Mvurwi-Centenary Road near Maori Turn Off, Mvurwi,” police said in a statement.
The violent crash left three people dead on the spot while the injured were rushed to Concession Hospital.
“The bodies of the victims were taken to Mvurwi Hospital mortuary for postmortem, whil the injured were admitted at Concession Hospital,” the police said.
The police urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, especially at night.
“We continue to appeal to motorists to observe road rules and avoid reckless driving to prevent loss of lives on the roads,” the statement read.
The names of the deceased will be released once their families have been notified.
