HARARE – An eleven-year marriage has crumbled following the exposure of an adulterous affair, complete with compromising photographs, between a married woman and her work colleague.
The union of Oripa Chapwanya Ngibe, 41, and Kudakwashe Ngibe, 51, has irrevocably broken down under the strain of the scandal sparked by the discovery of intimate images. The saga unfolded when Kudakwashe stumbled upon photographs depicting Oripa and her lover, identified only as Hora, in a series of compromising and romantic situations. Some of these photos allegedly showed Oripa in a state of near-nudity.
The discovery sent Kudakwashe reeling, prompting him to seek guidance and counsel from the couple’s church leaders in an attempt to salvage the situation. Oripa, confronted with the evidence, reportedly admitted to the affair with Hora and even pledged to reform her behaviour.
However, Kudakwashe’s hopes for reconciliation were dashed when he discovered that Oripa and Hora had continued their illicit relationship. This realisation led him to make the difficult decision to leave their shared home last month, marking a formal separation.
The drama escalated further when Kudakwashe took the bold step of confronting Hora and his wife, Mona, about the affair. In a heated exchange, Mona demanded that Kudakwashe hand over the explicit photographs, with the intention of pursuing legal action against Oripa for adultery damages. It has been confirmed that both couples involved are legally married, adding further complexity to the situation.
Tragically, the Ngibe’s youngest child, a Grade 3 pupil, has been caught in the crossfire of this marital breakdown, witnessing the turmoil and emotional distress of their parents.
In a frank and revealing interview, Oripa acknowledged her infidelity but attempted to deflect some of the blame onto her husband, claiming that his actions had driven her into the arms of her lover.
“I do not deny that I was involved with Hora until my husband found out,” she confessed to H-Metro. “We tried to address this with our church elders but the issue kept resurfacing.”
Oripa further claimed that Kudakwashe’s response to her infidelity had exacerbated the situation. “My husband began chatting with his girlfriend in my presence, as a form of revenge, which only added to my guilt,” she said.
Kudakwashe, on the other hand, painted a picture of a happy and stable marriage shattered by betrayal. “We were happily married, sharing our lives and attending church together,” he recounted. “I never imagined my wife would betray me.”
He expressed his shock and disbelief at Oripa’s deception, revealing how she had used her workplace as a cover for her affair. “She often claimed to be working late while I was oblivious to the fact that Hora was with her in the office,” Kudakwashe explained. “Imagine, my wife kept me waiting for her at her workplace car park while she was bedding Hora in the office.”
The emotional impact of the betrayal has been profound, as Kudakwashe described. “It affected me emotionally, to say the least,” he said.
He also questioned the sincerity of Oripa’s apology after the affair was exposed. “My wife apologised after I discovered the truth, but it felt insincere,” he admitted.
Kudakwashe expressed his deep disappointment and disillusionment with Oripa’s behaviour, stating that she had proven herself unfit to be a wife and mother. “She has shown herself to be too immoral to be a wife and mother,” he declared. “Imagine a married woman posing for half-naked photos and sending them to another man it’s not just wrong, it’s devastating.”
The scandal continues to unfold, leaving a trail of broken hearts and shattered lives in its wake. The future remains uncertain for all those involved, particularly the innocent child caught in the middle of this devastating marital collapse. The legal ramifications of the affair, particularly Mona’s threat to sue Oripa for adultery damages, are also yet to be determined.
