In a shocking turn of events, the marriage of popular comedian Freddy Manjalima, widely known as Kapfupi, and his wife Precious Kabrito, affectionately called Mai Nga, has reportedly collapsed amidst allegations of infidelity on both sides. H-Metro reported the details of this marital breakdown, which has brought an end to what appeared to be a long-standing and loving relationship.
The couple, who celebrated their union with a lavish white wedding in February last year, appeared to have weathered many storms together. They are parents to five children and their marriage was seen as a testament to their commitment. However, beneath the surface, it seems that cracks were already forming, leading to the current state of affairs.
When contacted by H-Metro for comment, Kapfupi, whose real name is Freddy Manjalima, was initially hesitant but ultimately confirmed the rumours of their separation. He stated, “I am going to divulge it all to you after you ask her about it. (She’s) my children’s mother. We need to hear from her about where I went wrong.”
Kapfupi further hinted at the reasons behind the split, implying that infidelity played a significant role. “She is the one who has the reason as to why she ran away from me,” he said. He also alluded to having substantial evidence to support his claims, stating, “I am still waiting for them because I have the full proof, ndine ma V11.”
The comedian was adamant that Mai Nga should be the one to first disclose the details of their marital woes to the public. “She must narrate all about how bad I was,” Kapfupi insisted. “Ndovane yese inini ndicha tsinhira mashoko aMwari, ndisinga nyepe kana zvandibata, live kana zvichida court, ndiripo ndine zita racho rechikomba chacho, ndichakupawo chokwadi because handingakunyepereyi.”
Kapfupi went on to claim that he possesses incriminating information about Mai Nga’s alleged infidelity, including the identity of her supposed lover. “I have everything about her cheatings and the names and details of her boyfriend,” he asserted. He even mentioned that the individual in question had threatened him with legal action.
Addressing the potential legal ramifications, Kapfupi declared his intention to represent himself in court. “To the public I say I do not need any lawyer, ndichazvimiririra ndega, I will stand in court on my own because I am my own lawyer,” he stated. “Yes, I know that I do not have money, handina mari vakatora vane zvikwanisiro, saka laywer ndini in this case, ndoita lawyer kuti ndiri kunyepa here? Kana ndiri wrong bhoo, vabvunzei tinzwe zvedu isu.”
This is not the first time that allegations of infidelity have plagued Kapfupi and Mai Nga’s relationship. Back in 2020, Kapfupi publicly accused his wife of having an affair with a wealthy benefactor.
Reports from November 2020 detailed how a man, posing as a potential sponsor for Kapfupi’s theatrical endeavours, allegedly grew close to the family, particularly Mai Nga. The situation reportedly escalated to the point where Kapfupi realised his wife was receiving “sponsorship and benefits in between the sheets.”
The current accusations and counter-accusations paint a picture of a marriage riddled with mistrust and betrayal. Sources close to the couple have indicated that a range of issues contributed to the breakdown, with infidelity being a major factor.
Kapfupi’s personal life has been fraught with challenges and controversies over the years. In 2015, he was involved in a heated custody battle with his ex-wife, Margaret Gejo, over their children. Gejo’s family alleged that Kapfupi had taken custody of their children without her consent, leading to a legal dispute between the former partners.
Kapfupi and Gejo’s relationship began when she was a young student, eventually leading to marriage and the birth of three children. However, their union eventually dissolved, with Kapfupi choosing to be with Mai Nga.
Adding to the complexities of Kapfupi’s personal life, in 2014, Kapfupi and Mai Nga welcomed their fifth child, Freddy Junior. However, in 2016, news emerged of Kapfupi’s extramarital affair with Patience Chimbare, which resulted in the birth of a daughter.
Chimbare publicly accused Kapfupi of neglecting their child’s needs, including failing to obtain a birth certificate. While Kapfupi acknowledged paternity, he expressed his displeasure at Chimbare for airing their private affairs in the media.
