A HARARE bouncer, who was captured on a video clip circulating on social media threatening to stab a reveller with a knife, is now on the police wanted list.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said Blessing Kumunda faces arrest for threatening to stab another bouncer with a knife.

Asst Comm Nyathi noted with concern the use of dangerous weapons at parties, saying one reveller stabbed a police officer to death in Hwange on Boxing Day.

“As we prepare for the New Year, let people be responsible and celebrate holidays without endangering each other’s lives,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.

“There is a video circulating on social media showing people at a bar fighting and one of them threatened to stab another person with a knife.

“Police have been ordered to make sure that man gets arrested wherever he is because we cannot allow a situation where some people move around with knives in their pockets.

“We received a case from Hwange where a police officer, who wanted to stop a fight at a shopping centre, was stabbed to death on Boxing Day.

“We have also noted with concern that as people celebrate during holidays, there are children who get drugged and girls get sexually abused during merry making.

“We are urging parents and guardians to be responsible as we prepare to celebrate New Year,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.

A number of people have called for the arrest of people recorded attacking other revellers at bars and other amusement areas.
