An armed robbery at an industrial premises in Bulawayo turned ugly when the robbers shot a security guard who was just doing his job.
In the dead of night around 3am on a weekday, the guard was making his routine patrol when all of a sudden, one of three would-be thieves pulled out a gun and pulled the trigger, hitting the poor guard in the leg.
The guard cried out in agony as he fell to the ground, wounded. His cries for help alerted other security officers from a nearby company who rushed to assist their colleague. As they ran to help, the armed robbers opened fire on them but missed.
They found the injured guard lying on the ground, unconscious and soaked in blood. They swiftly contacted his boss who sped him to the hospital. We’re told his condition, though serious, is stable.
The police later showed up to investigate the armed robbery attempt that left one security guard fighting for his life and others who escaped unhurt by the skin of their teeth. In the end, a security guard just doing his job wound up paying the heaviest price at the hands of heartless robbers.
