FIVE people escaped unhurt on Wednesday night when Sekuru Kanengo’s aide lost control of his vehicle and rammed into their cabin.

He was coming from watching the high-profile Champions League semi-final showdown between Manchester City and Real Madrid.

A number of empty beer bottles were found in the car.

“Yes, the driver is from my traditional team,” said Sekuru Kanengo.

“He lost control of the vehicle and destroyed property.

“I have since rebuilt the cabin house and bought property which was destroyed.

“He was coming from watching a match between Manchester City and Real Madrid,” he said.

Meanwhile, Southview Park residents have urged the Council to erect humps following a spate of accidents in the area due to speeding.

A resident told H-Metro:

“The motorist lost control and rammed into a house. It shows he was speeding. No one was injured.”

Another resident, Tawonga Mudyiwa, said:

“Motorists are speeding and we witnessed a sad incident this morning where a private car lost control and destroyed a makeshift house near Amalinda Road.

“I would like to encourage the relevant authorities to construct humps on the main road which is being used by various motorists who are avoiding the Mbudzi RoundAbout which is under construction.

“This week we also witnessed various cars piling up near the Jehovah’s Witnesses church due to negligent driving.

“We cannot continue to ignore this matter as soon lives will be lost.”

Another resident, Margaret Kwangwari, also shared the same sentiments.

“The delay by Council to construct road humps is also causing residents to construct unlawful speed humps which are also damaging cars and this calls for relevant authorities to respond quickly and construct proper road humps.

“We need to create a conducive environment for both drivers and pedestrians.”
