Chaos in CBD as daring thieves attack policeman and get away with satchel containing US$2 000

A police constable in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe had $2,000 U.S dollars and his cellphone stolen by thieves on Monday morning. Constable Peace Sibanda, who is stationed at Mayobodo Police Station in Matabeleland South Province, fell victim to the robbers in Bulawayo’s central business district.

Constable Sibanda said he was attacked just after leaving a popular watering hole (bar) in the CBD. The thieves pounced on him, making off with the money that was in a satchel and the cellphone that was in his pocket.

According to Constable Sibanda, he had $2,000 U.S dollars in his satchel and his cellphone in his pocket. The thieves followed him shortly after he left the bar. He said the bar was new to him so he did not know its name.

Constable Sibanda said he lost everything he had come to Bulawayo for, and that his family’s plans are now in jeopardy due to the theft.
