The Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Forward in Faith (ZAOGA FIF) church has set a 30-day mourning period for the church’s founder, Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti.

Archbishop Guti died on Wednesday.

He was 100.

“To mark and honour the promotion of our father to greater glory on the 5th of July 2023, the ZAOGA Executive and National Council at its meeting of the 6th of July 2023 made the following resolutions: That there be a 30-day celebration mourning period from July 6, 2023 to August 5, 2023,” read a statement from the church’s secretary-general, Apostle Michael Nyambo, on Friday.

Apart from prayer meetings, the church has also suspended all conferences, provincial council and district meetings, seminars, tournaments and other activities in observance of the mourning period.

Followers were also advised not to travel to Harare for the celebrations until the date for the grand celebrations had been released.

“The church is encouraged to meet in their respective places, praying for the strengthening of our mother, Professor Eunor Guti, and family, the church at large, and encouraging each other through testimonies of how their lives have been impacted by the teachings of our father…

“All communication in connection with these celebrations (mourning) will be on official Zaoga FIF letterhead, duly signed by authorised personnel and date stamped. May the God of our father continue to comfort and strengthen you,” added the statement.
