LATEST: 3 CCC candidates face trouble!

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is challenging the nominations of three candidates who filed to stand for Parliament under the party’s banner.

The opposition party has filed an urgent application at the Bulawayo High Court seeking to invalidate the nominations of Soneni Moyo, Dingilizwe Tshuma and Albert Mhlanga.

CCC alleges the three candidates fraudulently used the party’s name to file their nomination papers.

Soneni Moyo filed as the CCC candidate for the Pelandaba-Tshabalala constituency, though the party had endorsed Gift Siziba for that seat.

Dingilizwe Tshuma filed as the CCC candidate for Entumbane/Njube, despite the party selecting Prince Dube for that constituency.

Albert Mhlanga filed as the CCC candidate for Pumula, even though the party had chosen Sichelesile Mahlangu for that constituency.

The three respondents have denied any wrongdoing, with their lawyers arguing that they submitted their nomination papers lawfully through proper party channels.

The case will be heard today at the Bulawayo High Court, with CCC seeking to invalidate the candidacies of Moyo, Tshuma and Mhlanga ahead of the August 23 elections.

The court will now determine if the candidates’ nomination papers were fraudulently obtained, as CCC alleges, or lawfully submitted through the party’s official processes.

The outcome could have implications for the election results in the three constituencies.
