In a meeting held today at Bulawayo’s city council chambers, the municipality’s councillors voted David Coltart into the position of Mayor. Donaldson Mabutho was chosen as the new Deputy Mayor.
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors, Coltart and Mabutho will now serve as the top leadership for the city, succeeding the previous Mayor and Deputy. The local representatives cast their ballots to determine who would fill these key roles overseeing the administration of Bulawayo.
As Mayor, Coltart will be tasked with chairing council meetings and acting as the public face of the city government.
Mabutho will assist Coltart in his duties while also focusing on specific portfolios. Together, the new Mayor and Deputy will undertake the work of managing Bulawayo’s resources, public services, development projects and more and advocate for the city’s needs at higher levels of government.
