Celebrations as Nelson Chamisa’s CCC wins Kariba mayoral election

Ralph Maoneyi of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) was elected mayor of Kariba during councillor elections held this week.

Maoneyi, the incumbent ward 7 councillor, secured seven votes to defeat his nearest challenger George Masendu, who received five votes. Tendai Mapondera ran unopposed for the deputy mayor position.

In his acceptance speech, the new mayor pledged to work diligently to advance development in the resort town. Maoneyi expressed gratitude to Kariba residents for their trust in him.

“I want to thank the community of Kariba for having confidence in me. I will work hard with fellow councillors and make sure that Kariba becomes one of the best towns in the country,” Maoneyi said.

“Issues to do with the welfare of the resident is at my heart thus I will make sure all challenges that residents are facing get resolved timeously,” he said
