In a harrowing incident, a woman of the night and her client were subjected to a violent robbery when a gang of five armed assailants attacked them at a lodge in Mberengwa.
The distressing incident occurred during the early hours of November 8, 2023, leaving the victims traumatized and in fear.
According to Midlands police spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko, the incident unfolded when a woman named Sandra Sibanda, 28, checked into a nearby guest lodge with a companion. While they were in their room, five unidentified men forcefully entered, disrupting their evening.
The criminals demanded money from the client and resorted to violence, using a knobkerrie to strike him. In the chaos that ensued, the client managed to escape, leaving behind his wallet and the woman at the mercy of the assailants.
The robbers proceeded to ransack the room, stealing US$80 from the wallet and an itel cellphone that had been concealed beneath a pillow. They then coerced the woman to accompany one of the gang members, but she courageously resisted. In response, one of the assailants assaulted her, causing injury to her left eye, and forcibly dragged her to a nearby unfinished house that was under construction. There he rɑped her once before ordering her to leave.
At present, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the police are actively investigating the matter to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
