Armed robbers apprehended in Matobo shop attack, stolen items recovered

In a significant breakthrough, the police have successfully apprehended two armed robbers linked to a violent incident that took place in Matobo, Bulilimangwe. The suspects, identified as Clement Ndlovu (20) and Mduduzi Ndlovu (28), were arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred on January 8, where a shopkeeper was targeted and various valuable items were stolen, including cash and a laptop.

According to Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, the assailants cunningly posed as genuine customers, purchasing refreshments from the shopkeeper before launching their attack. Subsequently, they made off with US$30 in cash, a laptop, two cellphones, and a speaker box.

Upon receiving the shopkeeper’s report, law enforcement acted swiftly, tracking the suspects to Insukamini Power Station in Figtree. The police successfully apprehended the culprits at the location, leading to the recovery of all the stolen items. Additionally, a Star Eibar Espania SA pistol, 9mm caliber, was seized during the arrest.

Assistant Commissioner Nyathi confirmed that the suspects have already faced judgment in the Plumtree Regional Court and have each been handed a 10-year prison sentence for their crimes.
