Manhunt underway for suspect in fatal stabbing during beer-drinking spree

POLICE have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly fatally stabbed a patron following a feud during a beer-drinking spree in Madabe area, Mangwe District.

The suspect Martin Moyo (34), who is on the run, allegedly fatally stabbed Tafiros Ncube (27) with a sharp object following a dispute.

Acting Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Stanford Mguni confirmed the incident, which occurred on 18 April at around 6 pm at Madabe Business Centre

“The suspect and the deceased were drinking beer at the Vibe Bottle Store at Madabe Business Centre when an altercation ensued between the two. The deceased insulted the suspect who got angry and stabbed him on the chest with an unidentified sharp object,” he said.

Ncube collapsed and he was rushed to a local clinic where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. After committing the alleged crime, Moyo fled from the scene.

“Moyo fled from the scene. A witness made a police report and the deceased was taken to Madabe Clinic where he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said Asst Insp Mguni.

He said the suspect is still at large and they have since launched a manhunt.

“We are also appealing to members of the public who might have information on the suspect’s whereabout to report to any nearest police station.We continue to urge members of public to desist from any form of violence in the event of disputes,” said the police spokesperson.

“We urge people to respect the sancity of human and they should resolve disputes in an amicable manner rather than resorting to killing each other.”
