In a shocking display of violence, a Beitbridge man has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for attempted murder. David Mulaudzi, a 20-year-old from Koro Village, Chief Sitaudze, Beitbridge, was convicted by the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court for his involvement in a brutal attack.

The incident unfolded on February 25th, 2024, when the complainant, Desmond Bhebhe, was travelling in a Howo truck being driven by Jack Mlilo to their workplace. Mulaudzi and his friends then boarded the vehicle without authorization, leading to a confrontation between the two groups.

The altercation turned violent, and Mulaudzi pushed Bhebhe from the moving truck. The victim fell onto the tarmac, sustaining bruises on his face, right hand, stomach, and right leg.

The Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court handed down a 5-year prison sentence to Mulaudzi for the attempted murder charge.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe has taken this opportunity to urge the public to refrain from violence and instead seek amicable resolutions or third-party mediation when faced with disputes. This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of resorting to such extreme measures and the importance of maintaining a peaceful society.
