MUFAKOSE – A Mufakose family is in mourning after a 27-year-old man allegedly stabbed his older brother to death over a girlfriend on Wednesday evening.

Prince Ncube, a bouncer and nurse by profession, is currently on the run following the fatal altercation with his 30-year-old brother, Pardon Ncube.

The tragic incident occurred at Gwenyambira Shopping Centre in Mufakose, where the brothers were reportedly playing snooker. A misunderstanding arose between the two, allegedly stemming from a dispute over a ‘hot’ girlfriend identified as Phillipa.

During the altercation, Prince allegedly stabbed Pardon three times. The victim was rushed to a local medical centre, but succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case and appealed to the public for any information that may lead to the arrest of Prince Ncube. “Police are investigating a murder case involving biological brothers in Mufakose,” said Insp Chakanza.

The death of Pardon Ncube has plunged the Mufakose community into mourning. Pardon was the son of a local church elder.

A neighbour, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed their shock and sadness, saying: “This is sad, Prince has been ever violent maybe it is because of weightlifting. We have been wondering how he treats patients considering that he is a nurse at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital. Killing his brother because of Phillipa, it’s sad. He got married recently and had a better wedding only to frustrate his wife by fighting for a girlfriend.”

The feuding brothers’ father, Charles Ncube, was still in shock when contacted yesterday. “I am based at the farm, I was not around. I was shocked to hear about this and the brother is still on the run,” said Ncube.

The incident has left the Mufakose community reeling, with many questioning how a dispute over a girlfriend could escalate to such a tragic end. The search for Prince Ncube is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
