Controversy surrounds ex ZIFA president’s alleged healing by prophet T.B. Joshua

In 2010, Cuthbert Dube, the then-president of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), made headlines worldwide when he appeared to rise miraculously from his wheelchair after seeking healing from Nigerian prophet T.B. Joshua at the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos. However, 14 years later, doubts have been raised about the authenticity of the healing, following a recent BBC report suggesting that the miracles performed by the late prophet and his inner circle were staged.

The focus has now turned to Dube, who continues to face challenges with walking. The central question being asked is whether he was deceived into believing he had been healed by the late prophet. Was the clip of his “healing” merely a staged event designed to deceive more people?

Efforts to reach Dube for comment have been unsuccessful thus far. However, let’s examine how Prophet T.B. Joshua and his team presented the incident at the time.

“Also during the service, we saw the spectacular demonstration of God’s power in the life of Mr Cuthbert Elkana Dube of Zimbabwe.

“A man of many titles including Group Chief Executive Officer of Premier Service Medical Aid Society, chairman of West End Hospital, chairman of Premier Banking Corporation and president of Zimbabwe Football Association to name a few, had come to The SCOAN in a wheelchair, unable to walk due to a severe spinal cord problem.

“As he sat in the front row close to the man of God, Prophet T.B. Joshua began to talk about his case. “He then called Mr Cuthbert Elkana Dube’s wife forward to administer the anointing Water for salvation, healing and deliverance to her husband.

“He instructed her to apply it into his mouth, on his head, to the back of his neck and down his spine. He then said, “Stand Up!” and at that word – he did.

“The auditorium exploded into praise and worship to God for His mighty deeds. God has recently raised up three men of God from The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations for His glory and has been showing Himself strong in their lives.”

But, the whole exercise was not short on controversy and Prophet TB Joshua was forced to issue a statement.

“The Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) Overseer T. B Joshua has dismissed claims that the fired Zifa president Cuthbert Dube paid tens of thousands dollars as offering to the church ahead of getting his healing when he went for assistance to the Nigerial’s Lagos based church,” said a statement from SCOAN.

“Dube was healed by T. B Joshua when he was wheelchair bound and was able to walk again.

“We want to emphasise that miracles, signs, wonders, deliverance and healing cannot be exchanged with money.

“They are not for sale but free gifts paid for by the blood Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary.

“We should therefore not trade the name of Jesus with money. Salvation is free. Whatever you receive from God in The SCOAN is free.”

Controversy surrounded the incident from the start, prompting Prophet T.B. Joshua to issue a statement in response.

As questions surrounding the authenticity of the healing persist, the controversy raises concerns about the credibility of faith healings and the potential manipulation of vulnerable individuals seeking divine intervention. The impact of these revelations on the followers and legacy of the late Prophet T.B. Joshua remains to be seen.
