Pedzisai Zisengwe, an elder of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa Forward in Faith (ZAOGA FIF) based in the United Kingdom, has credited the late Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti, founder of the church, with healing him of cancer during Guti’s last visit to the UK.
Zisengwe said, “He was indeed a man of God whom many people benefited from. Personally, I was healed of cancer during his last visit to the UK. I went to the doctors and they confirmed that I had been healed.”
Guti, who died on July 5 at the age of 100, was declared a national hero by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his contributions to evangelism and social services. In addition to founding ZAOGA FIF, Guti sponsored the establishment of the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University and Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Harare.
The church and family have announced 30 days of mourning for the “General in the Faith,” as Guti was commonly known in religious circles. His burial arrangements have yet to be announced.
