Peter Dube who fled to Ireland after shooting 4 people at his 2nd wife’s place now in Mozambique

In a shocking twist of events, fugitive killer Peter Dube, who had recently been convicted in Ireland for violating immigration laws, has been deported to Mozambique after claiming citizenship of that country. Dube had been sought by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in connection with two fatal shootings and an attempted murder case in Gweru on April 23, 2021.

The 37-year-old had been on the run for the past two years. On that fateful day in April 2021, Dube, who worked as a car dealer, confronted his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo, and her alleged lover Shelton Chinhango, also a car dealer, who were inside a minibus parked outside a flat in Gweru’s central business district (CBD), where Nharingo resided.

Dube fatally shot Chinhango at close range and then turned the gun on Nharingo’s best friend, Gamuchirai Mudungwe, shooting her in the chest, resulting in her immediate death. He also shot Nharingo and her sister Nyaradzo, who were later rushed to the hospital. After the shootings, Dube reportedly fled to South Africa before eventually making his way to Eswatini, where he assumed a new identity as Xolile Mtsali. From there, he travelled to Ireland and sought asylum. However, following an exposé by Zimbabwean authorities, Dube was arrested in Ireland on June 14, 2023, for violating immigration laws.

During his court appearance in Ireland, Dube claimed to be a Mozambican national and presented an identity document to support his claim. The details of the new identity he assumed remain undisclosed at this time.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi explained that due to a delay in providing documentation to prove Dube’s Zimbabwean nationality, he was deported to Mozambique before the warrant of arrest could be executed. The Zimbabwean authorities are now working through Interpol to extradite Dube from Mozambique back to Zimbabwe. Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that Dube is currently in Mozambique.

It is believed that after fleeing Zimbabwe in 2021, Dube became involved with a syndicate engaged in producing counterfeit identity documents in South Africa and Eswatini. This syndicate allegedly aided him in obtaining Mozambican identity documents, which he then used during his court proceedings in Ireland.

Efforts are now underway to ensure Dube’s return to Zimbabwe to face charges related to the crimes he is accused of committing.
