JUST IN: Jonathan Moyo pleads with Mnangagwa to cut short his holiday and return to work urgently

Former Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has urged President Mnangagwa to cut short his leave and return to work as Coronavirus (Covid-19) wreaks havoc in Zimbabwe.

As at 10 January 2021, Zimbabwe had 21 477 confirmed cases, including 12 582 recoveries and 507 deaths.

Writing on his Twitter handle, the G40 kingpin said: “Dear President Mnangagwa, Sir, you really need to cut short your holiday & persuade the People’s Republic of China to intervene & help save lives & livelihoods in Zimbabwe. The runaway community spread of the #coronavirus in the country is approaching armageddon proportions!”

Moyo fled Zimbabwe during the military coup in November 2017 that ousted late former president Robert Mugabe is now exiled in Kenya.
