Two siblings from Masvingo have been arrested for assaulting their father and murdering two young girls.
Clever Mavhunga (35) and Modina Mavhunga (28) first assaulted their 81-year old father Anisto Mavhunga with wooden sticks after accusing him of witchcraft.
Modina then took her two daughters, aged 2 and 5, to the family graveyard. She ordered the girls to lie on a grave and then hit them on the head with stones until they died.
In a separate incident, police are investigating the murder of a man in Ngundu. Frederick Shamba (36) and Nyenyesai Tevera are suspects.
The victim was tied up with a rope by the suspects. They then assaulted him with switches all over his body, accusing him of stealing Nyenyesai’s money. The victim died from his injuries.
Police arrested Frederick Shamba but Nyenyesai Tevera remains at large. Investigations into both murders are ongoing.
