A 22-year old woman and her friend attacked the woman’s 51-year old mother after an argument about rent money in their shared apartment in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The incident occurred on Monday. Mavhu Kaseke and her friend Fezubuhle Zulu, aged 23, assaulted Mavhu’s mother Rhoda Mafemba. The dispute started when Mrs Mafemba asked Ms Zulu for rent money.
Ms. Zulu, who was drunk at the time, became angry and hit Mrs. Mafemba with a crutch on her legs. Mavhu then joined in, pulling her mother’s dreadlocks.
The situation escalated when Mavhu grabbed a knife and threatened to stab her mother if she continued asking for money from her friend.
The two young women pleaded guilty to assault when they appeared in court before Magistrate Minel Narotam. Farai Makuyana served as the prosecutor in the case.
