In a tragic incident in Madziwa, a man lost his life after being fatally assaulted for knocking on a villager’s homestead at midnight.

The misunderstanding occurred when Emily Garavaziva (29), a resident of Mazhiwawa Village under Chief Mutumba, mistook Gabriel Mombeyarara for a thief. The incident took place on November 5th, around midnight, when Mombeyarara passed by Garavaziva’s home and knocked on her door.

Failing to recognize him, Garavaziva assumed he was a thief and immediately alerted Gerald Mubaiwa (17), who joined her in assaulting Mombeyarara with sticks all over his body. They even stabbed him once in the left arm using a sharp object.

In an attempt to escape the assault, Mombeyarara managed to flee and lay near a well in the same village. The next morning, he was discovered by Otilia Chingwete, who then informed Kingdom Mazhiwawa (48) about the situation.

The incident was reported to the Madziwa Police Station, and Mombeyarara was taken to Madziwa Clinic. Unfortunately, he was suffering from chest pains and had a deep cut on his left arm. As a result, he was referred to Bindura Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on November 10th.
