In a concerning incident in Chansato Village, Chief Chapoto in Mbire, a neighbour’s cry for help prompted David Chimbiti, a 90-year-old resident, to rush to the scene.
Faresi Dhiningo, aged 68, was being assaulted by Panashe Chimbiti when David intervened. As David entered the premises, he witnessed Panashe emerging from Dhiningo’s kitchen. Inside, he found Dhiningo lying on the floor, blood oozing from her nose and left eye.
Acting swiftly, David, with the assistance of others, carried Dhiningo to Chapoto Clinic. The matter was promptly reported to the police, leading to the arrest of Panashe. Notably, a generator pipe and stone were recovered as evidence at the scene. However, when the police visited Dhiningo at the clinic, she was unable to speak and was subsequently referred to Katondwe Hospital in Zambia.
Regrettably, on November 8th, Dhiningo passed away, marking a tragic end to the distressing incident. Assistant Inspector Tonny Nyandoro urged people to refrain from resorting to violence and emphasized the importance of resolving disputes amicably or seeking assistance from the police and local leaders.
