Takawira allegedly requested US$800 for the job placement, a substantial sum that her parents struggled to raise. It was at this critical juncture that a member of Takawira’s alleged syndicate, identified only as Faith, reportedly intervened with a disturbing proposition. The woman claims Faith explicitly informed her that the job documents would only be processed if she “did the right thing.”
“She pleaded with me that bedding Takawira was the only way I would get documents for the job,” the woman recounted, her statement painting a stark picture of the alleged coercion. Despite her initial resistance, fuelled by her existing relationship and her boyfriend’s intention to marry her, the pressure intensified. She alleges that Takawira subsequently lured her to a lodge, where he engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse with her. Crucially, and unbeknownst to her at the time, he secretly recorded the act.
A Vicious Betrayal: From Coercion to Cyberbullying
The alleged betrayal deepened significantly when the secretly recorded video was distributed without her consent. The victim discovered the existence of the recording only after it was sent to her boyfriend’s younger brother, an act she firmly believes was orchestrated to sabotage her relationship. “I only discovered the secret recording after he sent the video to my boyfriend’s younger brother, intending to wreck my affair,” she stated, highlighting the profound emotional distress caused by this act of revenge porn.
Adding to the victim’s torment, Takawira is also accused of threatening her lover’s younger brother, instructing him to tell his sibling to end the relationship with her. The intimidation did not cease there; the victim claims Takawira continued to pester her for sex, even proposing that she become his “second wife,” boasting, “He said he would sell two residential stands, which his wife does not know about.”

He confirmed charging the woman US$800, asserting that he had already processed some of her documents and that she still owed him US$100. He vehemently denied any romantic involvement, stating he only knew her as the daughter of a churchmate. “I helped two people to acquire jobs overseas but they all betrayed me and I failed to recover my money,” Takawira claimed. He further elaborated on his version of events: “As for this woman, I just processed her CV for US$65 and other expenses and she failed to pay back. I never dated her as alleged since her mother is my churchmate, I treat her like my daughter. I used to give her airtime to juice up her mobile phone and I was recording every cent only to realise that she was spending most of her airtime with her boyfriend. It affected me and I now need every dollar I assisted her with.” This defence, however, conspicuously avoids addressing the allegations of sexual abuse, secret recording, or the subsequent distribution of intimate material.
The police in Harare have confirmed that an investigation is underway. Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, stated, “Police are investigating a case involving a Kuwadzana Extension man for cyber bullying and sexual abuse. The suspect is yet to be arrested.” The victim’s journey to report the crime was itself arduous, as she spent hours filing her case and giving a statement at Harare Central Police Station, only to be referred to Kuwadzana Police Station, where she again faced lengthy delays, a common frustration for victims seeking justice.
