Black Rhinos have been plunged into mourning following the death of another player.

Chauya Chipembere confirmed that Marcus Mapunhure passed away at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals on Saturday morning.

It was reported that the player sustained injuries after being hit by a car on his way to training.

“Another sad day for the Black Rhinos family.

“The club regrets to announce the passing on of one of our new players, Marcus Mapunhure, popularly known as ‘Rojo’, at Parirenyatwa Hospital.

“He was hit by a car in the Harare Central Business District yesterday morning on his way to the training ground.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” read the club’s statement.

In January, Rhinos lost goalkeeper, Simbarashe Nkosi, who succumbed to a chest infection.

The club also mourned the death of former Black Rhinos Queens and Mighty Warriors’ player, Rufaro Machingura, in January after a long illness.
