Cold-blooded murder: Armed thugs rob man, shoot and kill his 5-year-old son

Police are currently searching for suspects in connection with the shooting of a 5-year-old child during a hijacking incident in Soshanguve on Friday, May 10. The child was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately was pronounced dead upon arrival.

According to Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, spokesperson for the Gauteng Police, the incident occurred when the child’s father arrived home around 10:30 PM in a white Toyota bakkie. As the child went outside to welcome his father, an unconfirmed number of armed suspects reportedly hijacked the father’s vehicle and shot the young boy, leading to his tragic death.

A murder and hijacking case has been opened by the police, who are currently conducting a search for the suspects. Lieutenant-Colonel Masondo urged anyone with information that could aid the investigation or help in apprehending the suspects to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop hotline at 08600 10111.

The family of the deceased child, represented by spokesperson Gift Makoti, expressed their devastation over the tragic event. Makoti stated in a released statement that the incident had deeply affected their family in unimaginable ways. The hijacking took place in Block UU in Soshanguve, resulting in the theft of Ditebogo Phalane’s Toyota Hilux bakkie and the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ditebogo Junior.

The family is currently grieving and implores anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the authorities with their investigation. They expressed gratitude to the community for their support during this difficult time.
