IT TURNS out the death of Prince Lethukuthula Zulu was a case of the hunter being the hunted.

However, the women’s mission went sideways when the prince’s body was discovered in his apartment in November 2020.

One of the women accused of his murder, Margaret Koaile, revealed to the South Gauteng High Court on Monday, 24 October that their intention was to spike Lethukuthula’s drink and that of his friend, Nkosi, so they could take their valuables and leave.

But their mission bit them in the bum when they woke up to Lethukuthula’s body after they had all spent the night together.

In a confession statement read in court by Colonel Mandisa Enoch, Margaret said she and her co-accused, Tshegofatso Moremane, Gontse Thloele and Portia Mmola, targeted men at taverns who were on the hunt for “stocko”.

The statement read: “We had Eyegene drops. We waited for the males who approached one of us and asked her to go with them to their houses and have s_əx with them.

“The one who would have s_əx with the owner of the house would spike the drink of the owner.

“We would then steal electric appliances as well as the money. We have been doing this for the past three years.”

Margaret said on 6 November 2020, the four of them went to News Cafe in Randburg armed with the eye drops.

“While at News Cafe, Shakira (Tshegofatso Moremane) showed me the two black males saying they wanted to go with them.

“I said they can go with them.

“Shakira spoke to the guy and asked to accommodate us, me and Gontse would sleep on the couches.”

She said they went to the guy’s place, but she did not know the name.

“On our arrival Shakira went to sleep with one of the guys in the bedroom, his name is unknown to me.

“Portia went to sleep with the other guy in the second bedroom,” she said.

Margaret said the following morning, she was woken up by Portia and Shakira at about 5am, saying they should leave.

“Those two black males were still sleeping because their drinks were spiked by Shakira and Portia,” she said.

She said Gontse took toiletries such as bar soap and toothpaste.

“Shakira went to the side drawer and got R3 000 in cash. She took it and we shared it among the four of us.

“Shakira also took the microwave and plates. Portia took pots and I took a fleece blanket that was on the couch,” she said.

Margaret said that Portia then went to the bedroom as she wanted to find out from the guy Shakira slept how much money was in the TV stand.

“Portia and Shakira started fighting and I intervened.

“Portia went inside the room and started waking up the man, but he did not wake up,” she said.

“I went to look and found the guy on the floor. Portia called Taxify (Bolt).

“When it arrived, everybody was carrying something and we put them into the boot and left,” she said.

Margaret said they each went to their respective places.

“I was not aware that the guy died,” she said.

“I was surprised when the police arrested me and told me that the guy had died.”

The matter was postponed to Tuesday, 25 October, for further evidence.
