Gweru – In a chilling case of domestic violence, a 26-year-old woman from the Chiwundura area outside Gweru was allegedly murdered by her husband following accusations of infidelity. The tragic incident occurred on December 20 around 11PM at Chinyama Village under Chief Gambiza.

Midlands Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the details of the gruesome crime. “Another case of murder happened at Chinyama Village under Chief Gambiza, Gweru on December 20 around 11PM when a 26-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her husband following accusations of infidelity,” he stated.

The suspect in the matter has been identified as Brighton Kahlanga (31), the husband of the now deceased Patience Madula. According to Insp Mahoko, the couple had been embroiled in a heated dispute over Kahlanga’s accusations of infidelity against his wife.

“It is alleged that the two had a misunderstanding as Kahlanga was accusing his wife of infidelity. He started assaulting his wife in the presence of his mother, who ran away and sought refuge at her neighbour’s homestead,” Insp Mahoko explained.

The situation escalated when Kahlanga contacted his brother-in-law, informing him of his intentions to kill his wife and subsequently commit suicide. “His brother-in-law rushed to the scene and found the now deceased lying unconscious in a pool of blood. She had deep cuts all over her body,” Insp Mahoko revealed.

The suspect had already fled the scene by the time authorities arrived. “We call upon members of the public to solve disputes amicably and respect human life. May those with information concerning the whereabouts of the suspect Brighton Kahlanga pass it to any police station,” Insp Mahoko urged.

The police at Muchakata Post are currently investigating the case and are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of Brighton Kahlanga.
